The farmer's daughter
There is a farmer who has a lot of debts. The landlord comes over to him and says "You have a lot of debts. If you don't pay them back, I'll take your farm"
The farmer says "Isn't there anything I can do"
The landlord says "If you let me marry your beautiful daughter then I'll clear your deaths"
So the farmer goes to discuss it with his family. So what the daughter does is she proposes a game. If the landlord wins she marries him and the landlord clears the debts. If the daughter wins she doesn't marry him and he clears the debts.
So they play a game. The farmer and his family and the landlord go to a beach filled with black and white pebbles.
The landlord says "I'll put 2 pebbles in a bag. One white and one black. If the daughter picks up a white pebble then the debts are cleared and she doesn't have to marry him. If the daughter picks up a black pebble then the daughter marries him and the debts are cleared"
The daughter agrees. But when the landlord picks up the 2 stones, the daughter sees the landlord picking up 2 black stones. The daughter doesn't say he's cheating because if she says he was cheating he would take away the farm.
So the daughter does it, even though she knows there are 2 black stones. How can she win?
