I dont know if many people want to see this film after the first one (AVP) but 20th Century Fox's feature film head honcho Tom Rothman has been talking about Alien vs. Predator 2. He said "Yeah, uh, Hutch would know actually better but I think they just got the script, they just got the script in...we are making that movie, it's gonna be kick ass (smiles)" said Rothman. It looks like it might be released as early as next year "We're hoping for August of 2007 release. That's what we hope".

i loved alien vs predator one of the best movies ever made. i would go on the open day to watch the avp2 i love the movie massive fan. wouldnt miss it for the world.

It was obvious they were making AVP2, look at the ending for AVP!

I just hope Paul W.S. Anderson doesn't get his greasy underqualified hanRAB on it, or it will definetly suck. It would be interesting to see how the baby Alien/Predator hybrid turns out to be though...

Paddy :D

Don't worry Superman, I too have seen the short video clip in which it is discussed, it is real and it is being made... *shudder*.

Alien vs Predator had the chance to be a fantastic franchise but it failed in my opinion due to the distributor wanting it to be more accessable to families and children, hence the PG13 rating in the US. If it had been geared towarRAB a more adult audience, I feel it could have been a lot better.

And the AvP2 should have Paul WS Anderson being nowhere near a script, camera or anywhere near the set for this one.

Disgruntled Firefly fans are everywhere :p

I think AvP was a great idea but sadly it just didn't come off. I fail to see how a second movie could redeem it ;)

Might as well make AVP2 a cartoon as the first 'effort' was basically a live action one to start with.
I'd rather see Alien 5 with Ridley Scott involved to be honest or, failing that, Guillermo Del Toro.

After the huge pile of plop they made out of the first one - great idea very very very badly executed - I really don't think we should encourage them.

Watching AR again last night/this morning I thought the set design was the best since the first and it had some good, very 'Joss' ideas like the pirates who were basically the template for Firefly. Why Mr charisma-to-spare' Michael Wincott gets killed early and Winona's dull as dishwater android survived I don't know - it practically killed the movie for me. I can just about watch the ending now without giggling at the Newborn.

I think Alien 3 and AVP (though it's not really a direct part of the franchise) are the poorer films.

I hope they do better with the second one, if it's made... the first one COULD have been good, had it not been completely watered down to suit a PG-13/15 rating... I also really hated the wierd MTV style editing - slowing the action down... what WAS he thinking with that??

perhaps if the film had followed more along the lines of the games or the spin-off novels/graphic novels it would have had a lot more potential...

I agree that it would be pretty good to have Ridley Scott to do another film, but I think that's pretty doubtful... I think that AvP has pretty much killed both franchises :(

(but another game would be a welcome development!!)
