auxiliary connection in my car help?

i drive a 2007 bmw 335i, and i have a simple auxiliary cable that i connect to my ipod..but every time i play a CD it sounds significantly better, the bass hits harder and the lyrics are much clearer. how would i get the same quality from my ipod as i do with a CD? it's getting really annoying when i want to hear a song and i dont have it on any CD's. thanks
