Automatic update on LG Breeze, with Koodo?

I was getting data charged when I know I was not using it. So I had to get a data blocker. I know now it was not me as I do all the same things and I can do them. I kept calling because it's annoying that I can't do picture messaging when it comes with my plan. I was told that it could be an automatic update feature. If this is so, how would I turn it off? If not, what else could it be? I really do not like having a data blocker on and I don't feel i should have to.
