I bought a used 99 Honda Civic and now when I hear the tranny go from 4th gear to 3rd on a slow down, I hear a clicking noise... not a huge noise, but noticeable with the radio off and a slight jerky-ness on every click. I don't get it with D3 selected (only D4) so I know it's only when I engage the 4th gear and only when I slow down.. not on the acceleration. Is this automatically a new tranny or could it be something less expensive? I think the fluid may be low but before I add more fluid, is it even possible that would be a symtpom of low fluid or would I just be wasting money?
