Auto/Travel expense software recommendation?

What's the best (or at least recommeded) auto records/travel expense program out there? Needs to be compatible with a Tungsten T2. Palm Os Version 5.2.1.

Thanks.

The best I've seen for just pure mileage tracking (there's more to it than math - data entry at a gas pump can be a pain and you want FAST!!) is Automobil.

The best "complete" tracker, with almost too much stuff going on at one time (up to the user), is TealAuto.

I have requested to Tealpoint that PDA Street/Palm Blvd users get a "first crack at customer support" if you mention

paulteal

somewhere in your order or the Attention Line of the email. I have purchased the vast majority of their entire product line over the last couple of years, and in conversation with them over beta testing, almost never fail to mention "this great bunch" we have assembled here and the problems we've all had with OTHER software developers. Teal want to stand out in that department and are EXCELLENT with customer service and help (although reading the documentation WOULD be the best first step!!).

I personally used Automobil for a while, but neither program does you any good in the long run unless you are ADAMANT about entering every single tankful accurately and with a full fill up. The first time you just throw "$10" in because you're running late, you lose accuracy despite "partial fillup" options; it can become a pain after a couple of weeks. I got an estimate over a week's time and then stopped using mileage track programs altogether.

However, for full maintenance record tracking, etc TealAuto is extremely thorough and will even print annual reports for business purposes. Quite complete indeed.

I have used several, including a spreadsheet I wrote myself for Docs-2-Go (Excel). But alas, I hate to admit it but Paul is probably right. I have abandoned all except TealAuto, and am using it now, exclusively. If you do use it or any one of them, follow the advice about meticulously entering all the data in a timely manner. I have to go back now and add in the old ones from AutoBuddy since the first of the year, but it is well worth it, least of all for tax purposes if you need it.

You hate to admit I'm right???!!! (hee hee hee).

Well, YOU are right in trying to design your own spreadsheet; I have found a jillion little "database/we'll figure it out for you apps" that can be handled in a simple spreadsheet or MobilDB. The REAL benefit was found (for me) using TinySheet, since the spreadsheets were often 2-3k; Docs to go's minimum is 6k because of the formatting.

The drag with that is that TealAuto is just too configurable and easy to obtain reports that otherwise involve generating several sheet printouts and mulling over them - it's "1 stop shop" with TealAuto provided you have the patience to enter things correctly. Unfortunately, I'm usually flying down the road somewhere in 100 degree heat and the T3 is not the most "sunshine friendly" display to read while someone's parked behind you "panting" for the use of the pump in the gas station!!

Ironically that's why I stopped using TinySheet (along with the fact that 1) the PC synch was DREADFUL and Iambic never fixed it, and 2) Iambic discontinued TinySheet (along with FastWriter and AllMoney) a couple of months ago. D2G is more RAM intensive but you can't beat the features, readability and most of all the synch. I wanted to write the sheet on the PC and then use it thereafter on the T3 -- TinySheet made that almost impossible because of its "tracking" of ALL spreadsheets on the PC.

I'm posting a separate thread today or tonight on the SECURITY BREACHES of Desktop spreadhseet synching with Docs2Go -- never mind Internet Explorer "leaks;" there are several with Docs2Go as well and people concerned with sensitive spreadsheet data being seen by others or "read" by a hacker need to read that thread - it was quite alarming to me when I discovered it 2 days ago.

Anyway, many pats on the back for "admitting I was right!" That's why God made scotch, you know . . . . . I feel the same about Mooseman (sorry, Moosedesto)!!

See ya buddy!

I had (operative word) TealAuto and abandoned it and went with Automobile by LinkeSoft, here.

I won't say that TealAuto was a bad program because it wasn't or isn't. I just prefer the import export capabilities and the overall "feel" of automobile.

This is the great thing about Palm Software, you get to try before you buy.
