I am working on my first paint job so i expected this to be a learning experience so here is my question.
I painted and clear coated all my parts and upon sanding sanded through the clear and some of the paint and exposed some of the under coating. So i need to respray but my friend tells me that there is a chance that the hardener in the clear will react to the fresh paint possibly causing it to peel and crack and basically look like i poured paint thinner on it. Is this something I need to worry about? His advice was to sand with 400 grit to rough up the entire surface again and respray lightly allowing 30 minutes to dry before coats and not to get it too wet. Now I have seen his work and i know he knows what hes talking about but are all paints the same? The paint i used was PPG Shop Line DBU 83033 paint with DRR 1170 reducer and JC661 clear with JH6680 hardener as per manufacturers instructions. Can I just rough this clear up and respray it? Or will it ruin it and have to strip all over again?
