I spray painted (I know not ideal) my fender and it came out terrible- as others predicted it would! Specifically, it looks like it has tiger stripes and it is very rough and bumpy. I did grind it down to the bare metal and I used auto grade products; primer, base + clear.
MY QUESTION:
WHAT CAUSES THIS BUMPY- SPOTCHY LOOKING PAINT JOB?
1. Could this effect have been caused if the primer wasn't fully dried before base coat? I thought I let it dry long enough and it was 78degrees with 78 humidity.
2. I used Mineral spirits to clean the area- but it was dried off.
3. I sanded after priming with 600 grit- I did not sand the base because it is a metallic with flakes in it.
