Australian Author with book titled "The Knowing"?

I was with my daughter in a used book store and we were talking with a lady in the store about the Harry Potter series and she suggested that my daughter read the series with a book titled "The Knowing" or "Knowing". She couldn't recall who the author was but knew that they were from Australia. Ring any bells??? TIA!
