When you go into your settings to change your ringtone, you say you only see the ringtones that came with the phone, right? well just press left or right when you get to that screen and see if the ringtones you have downloaded come up.

Hey, I own this phone as well. Coincidentally I am also in Toronto, Canada. I noticed you mentioned that your phone, the Audiovox 8900 plays midi's and MP3's? It plays MP3's?!?!?! I own the phone and I didn't know that. Are you entirely sure? Secondly, did using the left and right keys work when looking through your audio files?

IF IT IS THE TELUS CDM 8900T YOU WONT BE ABLE TO DO SO THE ONLY RINGTONES THAT YOU CAN USE ARE THE ONES YOU DOWNLOAD FROM THE TELUS SITE VIEW MY POST ON TELUS SUCKS FOR DETAILS.... (APPLIES ONLY TO THE TELUS AUDIOVOX CDM-8900T)

I am with Telus and have the 8900 phone, using a data cable you can upload MP3 (renamed to .MID) and they will play as ringtone.

The cable is the way to go if you want playable ringtones (or wallpaper and free games).

I bought my cable on ebay and it cost me $23.00 Cdn with transport ($8 US cable + $8 US transport). The software is freely available.

BitPim's site there is a warning about using BitPim with this phone:
"The internal software in this phone is far too fragile and shoddy. There is a very real risk of locking up the phone so badly it won't reboot and has to be replaced through trivial operations. Consequently this phone is not supported by BitPim and you should not use it with BitPim even if it appears to work."
See http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/testhelp/)
