Can someone please help me. I just got the Audiovox 8900 and I use Telus in Canada. I've downloaded a bunch of midi sound clips but how on earth do I make them into ring tones? When I go to do more, then go to sound clips I can hear them there but it doesn't let me assign them as ring tones. As well from the ring tones menu I can only view the ones included in the phone as well as ones I've downloaded from either Telus or another legidimate site. Is this function blocked or something? I downloaded a few ring tones from about.com and they worked. They wern't in midi format I don't think, so is there only one format that works on the phone, and is there a way to convert midi to them? I noticed some forums saying to use Verizon's sms feature to send the files to the phone but it won't send to Telus clients and Telus's site doesn't let you send files with a message. I've been getting them on my phone by using my wap browser and then pointing it to a url of a midi and choosing save. Thanks for your help.

I downloaded it but what am I supposed to convert them to? When I save it as a converted file and point my wap browser to it it just shows a bunch of junk on the screen instead of playing the sound like a midi does.

what kind of phone do you have? first you have to find out what type of ringtone format your phone plays. mine plays mmf format so i use psm player. it can also convert to other formats.

also, if you don't have a cable or infrared with a uploading program, you can always upload it to a wap website from the regular internet. search around. i htink you can geet free wap space.

Sorry I have an audiovox 8900. It will play midi and mp3. I am uploading midi files to my own personal webspace. When I go to the site with my wap browser it plays them no problem and I can save them to the phone. The problem is how do I use them as a ring tone? I can only play them by going to Do More, then Sounds, then Sound Clips, but it doesn't let me assign them. When I try to change a ring tone the only option I have is to use the built in music, sounds, or the ones I've downloaded from Telus butnot the Midis I downloaded myself...

so what your saying is you already got the tones in your phone, but you can assign them as you main ringer. well i really don't know since i don't have your phone. the only way is to look around on the internet or on the forums here for information on how to do that.

Yeah that's correct. They're under sound clips but I can only listen to them or send them to other people. Then under ring tones they aren't listed at all. Trying to find info online but I can only find information on Verizon which I'm assuming is an American carrier, I'm using Telus in Toronto.
