Audio and Video Problems with Playstation 3?

I have the new 80gb Playstation 3, and while playing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, my audio system gives a lot of feedback, and the picture scrolls like an old fashion television when it's going bad. I am running it through the standard A/V cables until I get the HDMI cables. Is my console bad? Or is it just the cables?
