ATTN iPad & iPhone users- do you get the same coverage?

Attn all iPad & iPhone users- do you notice you get the same coverage on both devices at all times? I'm thinking about switching to the iPhone but want to make sure I get decent coverage before I do! I know the 'coverage' map of 3g service on the AT&T site says we are now in the 3g network, but sometimes that streatches the truth a little...I get pretty good service on my iPad though, and was curious if they work off the same towers.
