att data plan question?

i wanted to buy a smarthphone either windows phone 7 or a htc inspire i wanted to get 2 phones one for me and the other for my brother. i was wondering if i had to buy a data plan for each phone or can i get 1 data plan that will work for both phones just like texting plan were you buy it and it works for both phones no need to buy it twice
