Hi;

Does anyone have any experience with Ativan? i've been taking 6 mg of this a day for a month. I want to stop taking it because i feel as if I ve been taking too much of it. My dr gave me 20 1 mg pills and told me to take 2 mg a day (my prior prescription was 2 mg pills, which I was taking 3 a day, 1 during the day and 2 at night before bedtime). Im reading all this crazy stuff about withdrawal from benzo's, and Im a bit worried. Im also starting to take Paxil for axiety.

Can anyone inform me on what I can expect? Do you think i'll be in trouble, even though I've only been on it since 12/24/08? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Im scared because I feel like im addicted to this medicine. Should I break down and tell my primary care this?
 
You've been on a relatively small dose of this med, so I don't think that there would be much of a withdrawal from it. However, you may want to taper down from it to be on the safe side. You may also want to talk to your doc and let him know that you want to stop taking it. I've been on clonazepam and diazepam for a few years and stop every once in a while just because the level I need for panic attacks goes up, and I haven't had any adverse reactions. Everyone is different though.
