Ativan side effects issue?

I have been given 0.5 mg of ativan every night due to insomnia related anxiety.
This is quite a small dose compared to the other dosages ive seen.. and when i took it...i got a mild headache and my depression symptoms worsened ...i didn't stop crying for the next half hour. are these normal side effects?
It didn't help my sleep...the depression came in waves and i just ended up feeling distraught.
 
Anytime you're taking a medication, no matter what for. Always consult with your doctor and find out what possible side effects the medication could have so you're prepared. Benzo's CAN aggravate depression and as in most medications if your depression worsens while on the medication you should contact your doctor immediately to make a plan where to go from here. \

So are your side effects normal? YES.
The headache can be caused by almost anything and is nothing to stress over.
