ATHENS, Ala. (WAAY)- The community of Athens gathered Saturday at the Athens Police Department from 10 to 2 to take up donations for the tornado torn city of Moore, Oklahoma.
The project was started by Jennifer Adair. Adair is no stranger to tornadoes, she lost family members in the 1974 tornadoes that hit Alabama. Adair also lived through the April 27, 2011 storms, but her house was destroyed.
Adair's goal is to raise $4,027  for the victims. All of Saturday's donations collected today will go to Journey Church in Norman, Oklahoma. If you'd like to help, you can drop donations of at the Athens Police Department.
