A little from column A, a little from column B. Really, I'm closer to Bart Ehrman. I know he's technically agnostic, rather than atheist, but his introduction to God's Problem (his book on the Biblical responses to the question of suffering and their various inadequacies) really struck a chord with me. If you could read my mind, you'd think I'm every bit the asshole Dawkins is, and yet my religious friends know me as a kind, respectful conversationalist. I don't believe in asshole-ishness in the heart. I have a lot of very negative opinions about religion, but I'm a cordial debater and a bit of a diplomatic type. I'm not so much an atheist evangelist as I am an atheist ambassador. My goal is not to convince people, but to make them think, to get them to consider their own opinions and mine in a more rational light.
