As many of you love to pretend there is a correlation between education and belief.... Do you realize that some of the greatest minds on Earth believe in God???? "Chris Langan" is considered the smartest man alive (IQ between 190-200) is a believer.... Francis Collins, leader of the Human Genome Project....not only a believer, but wrote a book about it.... But, Im sure the geniuses on yahoo answers are far more intelligent and educated than these people.... ;)Do some research before you answer kids.... Francis Collins was the LEADER of the Human Genome Project....pretty sure he didn't overlook anything.... ;)#2- Who said anything about Christanity.... I never once defended a specific religion.... this is about the existance of God....a higher power.... Think, or at least do some research before you attempt to answer.... ;)

Deny it all you want; there IS a positive correlation between higher education and a lack of faith. But that's not saying that there are no intelligent theists.

I've never really used that argument, but you do realize that a correlation between education and belief doesn't preclude intelligent theists, don't you?

Being smart does not necessary mean that people cannot believe in magical fairies. Nor does it make the fairies real, unless you ask other true believers.

But it begs to be questioned... do they believe the "right" way? Your same beliefs and all the right things... I bet not. So it's a weak argument. Education is still going to eradicate the more fanciful beliefs of religion that can't realistically be true.

Francis Collins was not involved with the research of the Human Genome Project. He overlooked it.But yes, I am far more educated about being rational then those mentioned above.Chris Langan may be smart, but he has not produced any evidence to prove god.

First of all, you most likely haven't read any of Chris Langan's writings, because if you had....you would see he ISN'T a "believer", in the religious sense - he certainly accepts all mainstream scietific principles, and his thoughts on Intelligent Design are nothing to do with the christian ideas of creation. His theories are far more complex than that, beyond anything you'd be able to follow, and far more scientifically valid. As he said, he believes the "ALLEGORICAL tuth of creation", not the literal truth.Secondly, there is no correlation between religious affiliation and intelligence. Many scientists who are also Christian, actually THINK about their beliefs (instead of just being told what they are by priests and such)....and they certainly believe in scietific discovery (they simply see it as a way of appreciating God's work).

There is definitely a correlation. First it seems you need to understand what correlation meanscor⋅re⋅la⋅tion-Statistics. the degree to which two or more attributes or measurements on the same group of elements show a tendency to vary together. It simply means there is a general similarity between them, It does not mean that there cannot be variances. But most of the most intelligent people are non-believersWhile most of the most uneducated are believers

You mean the same Chris Langan who said "People who wanted to have children would apply to make sure they have no diseases. Why do we have to do it through genetic engineering? Well, we have to let only the fit breed…. Freedom is not necessarily a right. It is a privilege that you have to earn. A lot of people abuse their freedom and that is something that people have to be trained not to do.:?Doesn't sound very intelligent or Christian to me.And there are scientific studies that show intelligence and religious fundamentalism are inversely related.
