...required for my edification? Many Atheists state that all is in life as it is and after the end of life there is nothing.
Many people of faith regardless of what that faith is believe that our actions here will be held to account somewhere other than here and will be judged by a supreme authority not weighed down with human frailty.
Now here is the example I will present to you.
A father and mother see their loving daughter taken from them in the most brutal manner.
Raped,beaten and murdered.
The killer remains unknown and is never caught.
The parents of this girl live on in the shadows and their lives are ruined with grief and disclosure.
The child is dead to them forever.
Are you seriously suggesting that if the killer has no morals and no belief that what he did was and is wrong and that when he dies he too returns to nothing.
So basically everything living becomes nothing and once those who remember are gone it becomes a nothing memory with nothing beyond life.
Can you put yourself in that spot and understand that when you say there is nothing you leave the impression of a dead empty universe in particular the human one.
Is everything subject then to a random sequence of events that has no sense.
We know that if the killer is caught he will be convicted if the evidence can prove he was the murderer however he doesn't care.He has no belief in an eternal judgment. He is his won God in his own world.
Can you see where I'm comimg from.
I particularly don't like the direction religion has taken especially Christianity but I do know that without the grounding of religion that even if something may not be true if it keeps people from evil even if it scares them from the will to power then is that not a good thing amongst the many bad things religion fails to address.
I would be interested in your opinions and would like answers that get to the root of this and not silly remarks because you will agree their are people just like those I've described who to this day have had no closure and no justice for their murdered children and the perpetrators are still free so how do we reconcile all this if there is not even hope?
