A birth plan with your doctor?
Thanks so much!! I dont really have any specific plans.. other than to do what ever the doctor tells me to do in order to safely deliver my baby girl... i dont want to have all kind of expectations and be let down... I know delivery can sometimes be unpredictable... i just have a few questions about an epidural...

We discussed this at my 12 week appointment.

I have had preterm labor and an emergency C-section in the past, though, so I am seeing a high-risk OB. We discussed the birth plan (C-section, obviously, but timing, etc) at my first appointment with him, which was 12 weeks.

start in the beginning so they know exactly what you want and can work with you from the beginning. it is never too early

I say ask and ask away whenever you have a question.

If you have a good doctor they will welcome your questions and they understand that even if you are not close to delivery, it is on a lot of women's minds right from the get go.

Actually I never did. With either of my kids. About 37 wks I started complaining and was induced at 38 wks each time, but it was never a huge discussion or plan.

I asked a lot of L&D questions once my internals started, but I never really got into making a plan. I just wanted my baby to be healthy, and whatever measures needed to be taken during delivery to ensure that, I was fine with.
I was open to a lot of things, bc like you said, it is unpredictable.
Best wishes.

you will generally talk every time you c ur doctor about some aspects of ur birth plan starting around week 36 then get more indepth at 38 or 39 weeks

I Never Did With My First child But Had found Out the Day Before I had Her I was going to Have to Be Induced Then with My Second Child It was talked About At first appointment Since I had the same Doctor And He Knew I'd Have Gestational Diabetes Again It was Said I would Be Induced At About 39 Weeks But Since When That was going To fall Towards The End Of My Pregnancy He Moved it Up To A 3 Days Before 39 Weeks But I ended Up Going Into Natural Labor With My Second At 38 Weeks And Delivered Her Then So I Never had to Be Induced that Time.

At 36 weeks. Because your baby is ready at 37 weeks, it's best to know what will take place and be prepared just in case. Don't want any surprises.

They say to have a birth plan but trust me when I say that once things start happening that will probably change...just go with the flow...the nurses and doctors will update you on your options...I had an epideral...it was painless and very effectlive..it doesn't always work on everyone so keep that in mind. I'm sure you'll do great! :)

sometime after 30 weeks should be fine although my doc is severely busy so you may need to discuss i several times before he remembers your preferences just make sure that you do get your point across especially if you are really serious about one thing in specific to make sure it goes the way you plan and no the way they want

I'd do it as early as you can so its sorted out and everyone knows what you want right away. good luck
