Serious answers please.? I'm wondering this because evolution tells us that humans, like the rest of life on Earth, evolved from a common ancestor. That common ancestor was a microscopic single-celled organism (what it evolved from is irrelevant to this question for now) that definitely didn't have a brain and didn't look at all like the humans on Earth today.
I assume that those single-celled prokaryotes didn't go to Heaven when they died, but having said that I'm now confused as to what point in the evolution of life on Earth did humans start going on to an afterlife when they died?
Was it when we evolved a brain? If so, what qualified as a brain? Did God just one day decide that humans were finally smart enough to deserve an afterlife? Did He give them that responsibility to do good in order to get to Heaven or else go to Hell for being bad?
And if so, did God tell the humans that they were going to go to Heaven or Hell when they died or did he simply allow them to find out after death?
If he didn't tell them and they had to find out the hard way (after death), then wouldn't that have been mean of God to punish someone by sending them to Hell without first telling them that they had to do good to avoid being sent there? Surely then, God would have told them ahead of time that they were being tested on Earth for their afterlife.
But, if God did tell the humans (individually by telling them through their minds) that they were now subject to an afterlife, then surely we would have a record of a day when every human on Earth was told from God that they would go to Heaven or Hell when they died? And because this is not so, then isn't it safe to assume that God told the humans on Earth that they would be given an afterlife (Heaven/Hell) through the form of Jesus Christ?
But, because Jesus wasn't born until 2000 years ago, then what happened to the people that lived just before that time? Did they (the people who died before Jesus was born) really just die and disappear and lose consciousness without going to Heaven just like the rest of the animals on Earth? Surely that is so. For, if God put them in Heaven before telling them about Heaven through Jesus Christ, then there would be evil people who died and would be sent to Hell.
Or maybe, everyone who died before Jesus was sent to Earth was sent to Heaven regardless of whether or not they were good people. But, no, that doesn't seem fair. That would mean that people who did evil (and died more than 2000 years ago) would get the same reward as those who did good. Maybe then instead of going to Heaven or Hell, the evil people who lived more than 2000 years ago just died and lost consciousness.
But, this raises the same issue. God wouldn't punish them in Hell because they didn't yet know about Hell (they died before Jesus was born). But, wouldn't that mean that people who lived after Jesus was born, but on the other side of the world and thus didn't know about his teachings (e.g. the Native Americans), would also be spared going to Hell even if they were evil in life?
Although, doesn't that then mean that even in present day, the people who don't know of Jesus Christ's teachings (telling us that God will put us in Heaven or Hell when we die depending on whether we are good or not) don't go to Hell? And doesn't that also mean that all of the non-Christian and non-religious people would be spared going to Hell simply because they didn't actually know about the afterlife?
So wouldn't that mean that none of the atheists in the world or non-religious people have to go to Heaven?
But, that would be unfair. To make it fair, God would have to make everyone, even Christians, free from Hell. But, of course, that's not what Christians believe.
So basically, I'm wondering why God made it so confusing.
Why doesn't He just tell each human child (at a certain age where they're conscious enough) that they are going to be put in Heaven or Hell depending on what they do in the rest of their lives?
That would solve the problems of all the atheists and non-Christian people. So, why doesn't God just tell us rather than let us use our logic and reasoning to conclude that He doesn't exist?
