How did your mom or parents discuss menstrual cycle with you?

What was your reaction?

I have 13 yr old ready for "the talk."
Please advise. Thank you
Oh dear... maybe it's time for her to give ME "the talk." ya think?

My mom had the talk with me when I was in grade 3. At school, we talked about it from grade 4+.

I think it might be past time to talk. She could of already got it. A lot of girls get it between 11-14. Definitely tell her now.

Around 5th grade, usually. I was 10 at the time.
My mom gave me the talk when I was around 7 or 8 though.
I didn't understand it at 7, but by the time I was 10 it was all cleared up.
I got my period when I was almost 12.

In school I learned about it for the first time in 5th Grade
(It worked out well because shortly afterward I started my period for the first time.)

Then we had another talk, more in depth in the 7th grade.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Well, I learnt how babies were made (with pictures) in 3rd grade.

We were told about periods when I was in 5th grade.

We are informed thoroughly of STD's in years 8 and 9, informed briefly in grade 6.

WHen i was in 4th grade the nurse at school taught the girls..some girls have their period at 9yearsold. so you should have taught your daughter way before..or asked the nurse to tell her about it...make sure you tell her about STD's i've seen the maury show those 13 ,15 yrs old are having sex...also tell her about condomes and show her one and let her open it and feel it that way she wont be so curious..I've seen the Drs. show on channel 9 the doctor makes it fun for the girls like .."the penis gets hard and it gets up and its happy happy"

in 5th grade they showed us a video that was really corny and gave us deodorant and pads. i started my period when i was 11.

Well I am 13 and I do think you should have told her a little sooner. I have not had a "talk" with either of my parents, but I do know alot about everything that goes on concerning this matter. I think you should tell her what happens... how it happens.... be safe. and one more thing, DO NOT be like some of these parents out there who sugar coat everything! If you want your kid to have this knowledge don't lie to her about it, that will only confuse her in the long run! I hope I helped! :D
