AT&T not sending texts to verizon phones?

Ive been trying to text my girlfriend for the past few days, and I thought she was ignoring me. I asked her and she said she hasn't been recieving them, so I texted one of my friends with verizon and he didnt recieve the message either. Can anyone help with this or is having the same issue. Im in central NY
