The Asus is slightly more expensive, about $20 more; 20000:1 ASCR vs the Samsung's 50000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (what does that mean exactly?).
The Asus also has HDMI input in addition to DVI and VGA in, which is important but not crucial as it will be my 2nd monitor. The Samsung only has DVI and VGA.
My computer's GPUs only have DVI out, but I may want to connect my Xbox to the second monitor someday because it's bigger than what I'm using now (a Samsung 22" TV that doubles as my primary PC monitor) -- the Asus also has built-in speakers, that's why I would double it as my main Xbox "TV".
