1) What is the escape velocity from the surface of the following objects:

a) The Sun (M=2x1030 kg, R=7x105 km).
b) A 1.4 solar mass neutron star with a 10 km radius.
c) A 3 solar mass black hole (surface=Schwarzchild radius).
d) A 3x106 solar mass black hole (surface=Schwarzchild radius).

2) Explain briefly what makes an “Active Galaxy” active.
