I was dignosed with Asthma when I was in the 5th grade and now have just exercised induced asthma, expect when I am sick. I was diagnosed on friday with laryngitis, an viral upper respiratory infection, and bronchitis. It seems like no matter what is wrong with me if it has anything to do with a cold, flu, or something of that nature it turns into bronchitis. Is anyone else like that? Now I have this annoying dry barking cough that I can't get rid of. It feels like there's stuff in my lungs but I'm not coughing anything up. My lungs are also really heavy and have been but my peak flows are only 50 points under which is still in the green for me.

I have the same problem with bronchitis. For the past 17 years, almost every cold or respiratory infection would 1st trigger asthma & a productive cough for several days and then bronchitis with a dry cough & hoarse voice will linger for many weeks after. When I start the regimine of additional medications quickly after the onset of a cold/respiratory infection, the severity & duration of the symptoms decrease dramatically, but it's still a very frustrating and uncomfortable few weeks. I wish their was some way to prevent or mimimize its effects, but my doctors tell me it's "asthmatic bronchitis" and there's not a cure for asthma.
