Asthma after SUrgery

I have just had surgery for a thyroidectomy. I am really struggling with asthma symptoms. The hospital did not seem too worried but just said it was from the anasaetic. The surgery was Aug 17th. I am resting at home but can't seem to alleviate the asthma symtoms. I have Advair and a ventolin inhaler. I had mild asthma efore the surgery due to humid weather condtions and received a ventolin mask in the recovery room.

Any suggestions would be welcome. I see the surgeon again in 3 days.

Flare ups can happen as a result of anesthesia and surgery. Do you have an asthma action plan? if so, follow whatever the plan states. If not, call your pulmonologist.
 
Thank-you for your note. I am going to consult my GP tomorrow.
I do not have a pulmonologist as I have not had asthma for over 15 years except some mild flareups with the humid weather this year.
 
UPDATE

I visited the emergency dept. last night, of the hospital where the surgery was performed. My chest felt as if it was starting to close up! It was quite frightening. I was going to see my GP but upon calling his office, learned that he had an emergency and would be gone until Sept. 13. I could not wait.
At the emergency dept. they told my it was a good thing that I came in and that my chest sounded as if I had swallowed a dozen kittens! They said my
condition was caused by the shock of the surgery and anaesthetic to the chest area. My blood pressure was high and I was running a fever. I was administered one oxygen mask, two ventolin masks, and prednisone. I am on a regimen of prednisone for 5 days. Scairy drug but I will take it. I also have inhalers.
I feel a lot better today. Very tired and not quite a hundred precent but I trust that will come. I see the surgeon for the thyroidectomy tomorrow morning. It feels fine! I had no idea that I would have such a reaction to the surgery.
 
My symptoms had changed a bit but there were some new ones ocurring so I decided to visit a walk in clinic yesterday. I should have gone sooner!
The doctor examined me and the first thing he said was "Your glanRAB are swollen" He said there was some wheezing but not a lot. He informed me that I had contracted a "bug that is going around. I am now on antiibotics for 10 days. I just started on them. He also said there is probably anaesethic left in my system (heard that one already) that have added to the way I am feeling.
I believe I caught the infection during the visit to Emerg. There was someone there who was coughing over everyone. This person was annoyed that he was not immediatley being attended to. Yesterday my husband started to develop a head cold which is fully in force today. The Emergency dept is the ony place we have been since my surgery.
Who would have thought I would catch an infection after the surgery. I certainly did not.
Now I have to let the medication do its work.
