Asprin-induced gastric damage?

has anyone else taken a lot of salacilytes and may have caused their stomach cells pariel(sp?) to stop making acid?
 
I could be wrong about this, but I think the primary risk to the stomach from aspirin (and NSAIRAB for that matter) is that the stomach lining gets eaten away, putting you at higher risk for ulcers. I didn't/don't know if aspirin affects acid production.
