asp.net 2.0 and asp.net 3.5 ? ?

Hi, I am making a social netwoking website in asp.net 2.0, and I am thinking about buying the book ASP.NET 3.5 Social Networking by Andrew Siemer, I am not familiar with asp.net 3.5 even though I am with asp.net 2.0, so should I buy the book (I can understand 3.5) or not (I can't understand 3.5) and if you know of any books in this subject please post it too. Any sujestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
