Saw the trail for this the other night and just read the synopsis.
Celebrity guests answer questions from the public. Why? There are 3 shows at least that I can think of that have the same format.
Great Unanswered Questions (Radio and TV although I only discovered it on iPlayer as it's broadcast in NI only)
We Need Answers (BBC4)
and a radio program that I can't remember the name of.
How does Gilbert get a BBC1 show? It may turn out to be good but i'm puzzled who and how these shows get to where they do.
I didn't think it was that bad but Rhod neeRAB to sit back a bit and let his guests do more of the talking. As someone else already said, too much of it is pre-scripted.
they have to keep creating panel shows for the likes of jimmy carr, sarah millican, sean locke, etc. otherwise we might actually be able to ignore them for more than five seconRAB
I wouldn't mind if they didn't recycle their material on each one
I think they've let the regional charisma of Rhod on the upsurge swing it. He had that other mini-series about dodgy jobs and he's got that regional accent... this means points points points for the mysterious ethnic-abacus deep in the dungeons of the Beeb.
I love Rhod Gilbert so recorded this show
just watched and all I can say
the concept for the show is a good one but it just didn't work
I think it was soooo scripted that it left no leeway for the usual ad lib flow,
i'd be interested to hear if anyone was at a recording of the show to see if it worked with the live audience more
I agree with this, he's one of my favourite comedians but the show was a complete mess. I had trouble keeping up with it, it just seemed all over the place.
Great fan of Rhod Gilbert's stand-up act but this show was absolute pants. I expect nobody's had the bottle to tell 6' 8" Greg Davies he's breaking the trade descriptions act to purport to be a comedian.
