Ashley Judd has announced via Twitter that she will not take on Kentucky's Mitch McConnell for his U.S. Senate seat in 2014.
"After serious and thorough contemplation, I realize that my responsibilities & energy at this time need to be focused on my family," she wrote Wednesday.
The actress expressed her gratitude to fellow Kentuckians for their support and for seeing her as worthy of a spot on the ballot.
"Thanks for even considering me as that person & know how much I love our Commonwealth."
