Atheists will always balk at this.

You can't "prove" a negative. Which is the primary source of their ignorance. Atheism, by definition, is self-imposed ignorance.

Agnostics at least have open minds. Atheists actually take a stand based upon zero evidence, as if that's an academic place to stand.

why would i continue to debate if he'd actually presented sound evidence (which makes your whole question completely hypothetical as the never do that)? he'd have won the argument at that point.
 
I would have to hear this hypothetical "evidence" first, wouldn't I? I'm not sure how you think debates work, but I can't exactly put forth a rebuttal if I don't know what I'm rebutting.
