As an adult can be considered acceptable to be seen in tears from physical pain?

I'm also a 47-year old woman. I have cried in front of all kinds of people. Not only have I cried over physical pain, I've cried in fear of medical procedures even before they started!!

For me, crying relieves some of the stress and anxiety. I wouldn't give it a second thought if I were you.

I'm sorry your husband reacted the way he did. It makes me appreciate my husband even more.

Easy for him to say he is not the one that suffered from kidney stones. I have never had them myself but i've heard that the pain is excruciating. I feel that there is absolutely nothing wrong with crying i feel that there is something wrong with the people who judge you for it. If tears were only for children adults would not be able to shed them. There is no age for tears, and good for you for crying when you need to, please know that you are as normal and as human as they come. As for your husband sorry but i'm not so sure.
