...UK general election? My partner of five years left me last year and is now planning to marry someone else. I am now a single parent to my five year old child through no fault of my own. My ex partner now has no contact with my son through his own choice. I am working hard to get a degree in nursing and I have many financial worries. I have always voted labour and never once considered voting conservative...until recently. When David Cameron started talking about change and how much labour has let the country down, I started thinking that maybe voting conservative was an option as I no longer have much faith in our labour government. I was swaying towards the conservatives until David Cameron proposed his tax break for married couples. Why discriminate against families like me who are living in poverty and struggling every day to make life better? David Cameron is telling me that if I get married I will save £150 a year! My ex partner who deserted his family and who is now going to marry someone else is going to benefit from this but what about all the women who are left behind bringing up children on their own. What help are the conservatives going to give to help women like me? Is there any reason at all why I should vote conservative because right now I am planning on voting labour yet again.
Redgator I realise I have to make this decision on my own. I just wondered if anyone had any idea about what the conservatives will do for me IF I decided to vote for them.
Ever questing - unfortunately no I am not, but I do wish I could ask him directly as it would be interesting to see what he would say.
