Art student and college seems like a waste of time.?

Well I trying to become a sucsessfull artist but I feel like I'm not learning anything by going to community college then art school that's 6 years.

I've always made bad grades in acedemics but straight A's in art classes.

I was an art geek in high school so I discovered enough of myself.
Do you think I can do with out college?

(I don't mind if the road will be hard. I'm sure if I pratice drawing everday and stay true to myself I can do it.)
 
Yea I have the same idea about college some of it just seems like a WASTE OF TIME. like why do you have to take stupid english classes if you want to major in businesss (or art). Who can tell you if you can run a business and who can tell you if you can draw. Doesn't make sense. I think college is some cases is a complete waste of time and many other people agreee.
 
Yeah, art isn't necessarily a lucrative career path. It's more like a hobby. Most artists have jobs on the sides. While in other cases, let's be mature, a college degree is absolutely a necessity, but if you've got skill and the fundamentals, if I were you I'd never go to college to take a class in art, mostly because it always defeated the purpose of drawing if someone is telling me to. Now if you plan to live off your art, good luck. But go to school for something that's gonna get you a job to support yourself.
 
I'm going to college for art, let me tell you, you learn a lot in those classes actually. You're exposed to styles and techniques you normally wouldn't even go near and you are made to try new things that broaden your creative pallet so to speak. So go for it. It's worth it.
