I am currently serving in Iraq and have started the paperwork for accelerated OCS when I return home. I know that getting a secret clearance is easy and they only really check criminal and credit records, but what to know if i should even apply for a TS clearance. I am in the Army National Guard, and currently Infantry, but would like to get into Military Intel after i finish my psychology degree
Is form 86 also the form used for TS clearances?
i have a fairly clean background, but i did go through a drug phase when i was about 16. I want to know if i need to go back 10 years or until i was 18.
Also, on question 21 it asks about mental health, and if i have seen a counsor, but not to put if it was for grief counseling. I saw a counselor for grief and after a bad break up. I only saw the counselor intermittently, but they did have me take citalophram (an antidepressant) for about a year. I have been off of it at all times during training and deployment. Also, in the counseling session i was asked told them about my drug use when i was younger, but i am 25 now and haven't used since high school. It says to sign the medical release form in i answered yes to question 21, but if i do that will they see it and immediately deny my TS clearance in the future? If i don't sign the medical release record then is an investigator not allowed to pull my file? or is that only for a secret clearance?
Do i stand any chance of getting a clearance if i list all of these things? I figure if i don't and the investigator looks hard enough and gets my college medical records then i will definitely be denied.
