army recruiter said i can't get a guaranteed job?

i talked to my recruiter today and his commander said i can't get a job guaranteed, but he can guarantee i can get in the army. he won't let me take the ASVAB unless i am 100% sure i want to join and will take whatever he gives me. should i do it? i am almost 100% sure i want to join the military and pretty sure i want to join the army. but i don't want a shit job because i have a degree and i don't want to waste it. and i am a female, btw, so that limits the jobs i can have.

What you say is untrue! I spent 18 years as an Army Recruiter and still keep in touch with them and the policy of 100% of jobs, guaranteed in writing, prior to enlistment has not changed.

Edit: You don't mention if you are going enlisted or commissioned. If commissioned, your Branch depends upon your degree and the needs of the Army.

absolutely not! thats a big commitment to walk into blindly, especially if you have a degree.. i wouldnt do it... just my opinion

and he cant make you promise to enlist just by taking the asvab.. go take it see how you do and what they offer you.. you dont have to enlist afterwards if you dont want to

Ok, you don't have to guarantee to enlist if you take the asvab, he can't make you do that. You can't enlist until you take the asvab, so until you enlist they can't make you do anything. Your recruiter sounds like a real jerk, find someone else to work with. Have you looked in to OCS?
