Im 17 and plan on joining on of these elite units soon. I know i have to be at least 20 for Special Forces training, but which unit, would get you more ready for Delta Force selection.

Delta Force is not easy, and will not accept you at a young age! If you are planning on being a howah elite soldier, work on ruck marches now. up to 20 mile with boot not tennis shoes. Your feet become raw and bleed, PT performance lowers. you must acclimate yourself. It is easier to say then do. Look up preparation for special forces and do it if you are serious. I don't doubt you but don't go in with a big ego until you know what to do with it. 50 meter target soldier, look at what is in front of you dont go for the 200 meter target first.

The Army is letting soldier's enlist directly into SF now. 18X SF Candidate.

2.All applicants for SFOD must be 22 years or older, have a general technical score of 110 or higher, and be in the ranks of E-5 through E-8, with at least four and a half years in service.
3.Special Forces Candidates will attend Infantry OSUT (One Station Unit Training), which combines Army Basic Training and Infantry AIT (Advanced Individual Training), in one 17-week course.
4.Upon graduation, Special Forces Candidates will attend Airborne Training at Fort Benning, GA. After "jump school," candidates attend a 4-week Special Operations Preparation Course (SOPC) and the Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) program. The SFAS program assesses and selects Soldiers for attendance at the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC). This program allows Special Forces an opportunity to assess each Soldier's capabilities by testing his physical, emotional, and mental stamina.
5.If the recruit passes the SFAS, he moves onto the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC). The SFQC teaches and develops the skills necessary for effective utilization of the SF Soldier. The SFQC is currently divided into three phases: Individual Skills, MOS Qualification, and Collective Training. The enlisted applicant's SFQC training will be scheduled upon successful completion of SFAS.
6.Individual Skills Phase. During this period, soldiers inprocess, and are trained on common skills. Training is 40 days long and covers land navigation (cross-country) and small unit tactics.

14.Get to know your COs (Ranking Officers) You will be recommended and then selected by Congress. (If you can find a -X-Delta Force- usually Drill Instructors , I have known x delta force soldiers and they were ALL drill instructors)You might be able to get some wisdom from these war torn veterans.
15.Be 110% Eveyday , every second , and in every way.If you truly want to be DELTA FORCE YOU MUST be the best of the best in the best of the best (Special Forces).

Be in excellent shape. A Delta Force operator is a world class athlete.
•Delta trainers are looking for consistency. It is not good enough to be the motivated one day and dead last the next. You must consistently show yourself to be above your peers in all areas.
•Land navigation skills are key to successfully completing the Delta Force selection course. Know how to use a compass and map. You should also practice walking for very long distances (20mi or more) with a weighted (70lbs) rucksack. Try for 15 minute miles, though you will be expected to travel at a much faster pace during Selection.
•Your job during the Selection Phase is show your potential and train-ability under stress. Focus on giving every task that you are faced with 110% effort and NEVER quit! You are not expected to be a "super-soldier" right off the starting line but you are expected to be considerably above average. Once you are accepted you will be extensively trained during the Training Phase. You just have to get there.
•Perform well and stay out of trouble as adverse actions on your record can exclude you from consideration.
•Don't be disappointed if you do not make it on the first try-most people don't. Think about this: Of all the people in the army, only a fraction of them become Airborne Rangers and Green Berets. Of all the Airborne Rangers and Green Berets, only a fraction of them are selected for Delta Force.
•Read "Delta Force: America's Elite Counter-Terrorist Unit". It was written by the man who founded Delta Force, COL (RET) Charlie A. Beckwith.
•Realize that in "The Ballad of the Green Beret" there is a line "100 men will test today, but only 3 get the green beret." This is not far off, for there is a lot of work to be done to be a special forces soldier.
•Females: please be aware that one of the requirements to join any of the various Special Forces units in the US is that you are male.

Be advised that Delta Force is a very dangerous and difficult profession. Delta Force conducts a wide variety of direct action and covert operations around the globe that deal with protecting American interests. This means that you, as a Delta Force operator work
