after basic training he will go to AIT (advanced individual training). you will be able to visit him there, but won't be able to live together. AIT usually lasts about 2 months. Mine lasted 9 weeks. After AIT he will go to his first duty station where his unit will start his BAH (basic allowance for housing), BAH will only start when u two get married though. So when he gets his leave after AIT which is usually for 2 weeks you two can get married, then when he gets back they will give him BAH and you two can move into a house on post, or off post. If you live on post they will take your bah and give you a house paid for and utilities paid for. I would highly advise that you two find a small cheap house off post, because whatever money that you don't use out of your BAH you get to keep for youself. So if your BAH was 1200 and your house only costs 800 per month and utilities and water were 200 you'd be able to keep the additional 200 for yourselves for whatever. Also you will have to furnish the house so i'd start checkin on getting some stuff now. couches washer and dryer, dishes, beds...try not to get anything new see if ppl want to give it away friends or family that you know. You never know if he will be sent to afghanistan. It really depends on his MOS (job). like my MOS i won't ever see afghanistan. I'm in Kuwait right now and making some really good money. Also try not to get into debt right away. If you get a credit card make sure you pay it off every month. Don't go out to eat every night, perferrably never. It costs to much money. Grill out, cook for youselves. you can get credit through a credit card, but you've got to pay it off every month, every single month or you will be filing bankruptcy before you know it. Somones got to take care of the fincances (money) in your house. You can also get a small loan for 1000 dollars and keep that thousand in a savings account to pay off the loan, there will be a little interest that you will have to pay, but pay the loan off with the loan money they give you, don't spend the money,,, over the span of a year and that will up your credit too.
