so my bf is leaving for boot camp in about a month, when he gets back we're getting married, i need to know what's all gonna happen! like how long he is gonna be here for, do i get to go with him right away? is he getting sent to afganastan?

He should get 2 - 4 weeks of leave after training.

He accrues leave at 2.5 days of leave per month active. So an average soldier might exit traing with 10 - 15 days of leave.

Almost as an automatic approval, any permanent change of station (PCS) will allow him to take 30 days of leave en-route. However, he might not be willing to take that much, which would put him 'in the hole'; his CO might not want him to take that much also.

Does his contract specify a specific CONUS state for permanent duty station? Or is he guaranteed an overseas tour in Korea or Germany? Those things will impact his leave. For example, if he is, by some dumb luck, stationed at the same post where he does basic, he will not be authorized travel and his leave options will be curtailed. However, if his contract takes him on an overseas tour, he can be assured of 30 days leave +- travel.

A bit of friendly advice -- get married before he leaves for basic. That will give time for you to get into DEERS and for all the paperwork to be processed. If you get married on his leave between traing and his first assignment you will have a ton of paperwork headaches to deal with. You might also end up moving yourself if you do it wrong. Don't risk the headache, just get married quickly.

Personally, I would recommend getting married BEFORE boot camp.

First, once he is enlisted nothing is ever for certain again. Second, I promise you he will get very very sick during boot camp. It is called the crud and is anything from the flu to pneumonia. You don't want him feeling sick during your honeymoon. Third, he would earn alot more money during boot camp which could help getting yalls life established.

He will go to MOS training AIT after boot camp. It is kind of an extension of boot camp with restricted privileges, and mandatory living on base. Some time after that he will probably get his first trip to see you and do hometown recruiting. He will basically work a 9-5 M-F job for a couple weeks before officially moving to his permanent duty station. You would only be able to move with him. If you are already married AND entered into the system (which can take a month) you can move with him at the Army's cost. If not yall will have to pay for it yourselves.

He WILL get deployed. Probably 2 times during the next 4 years. And probably for 15 months at a time. During his deployment you will not get to talk to him very often or reliably. It is part of being a military wife. Where he will get deployed is a mystery. Probably Iraq or Afghanistan. The majority of people I know got deployed within 6 months to a year from starting boot camp.

well after basic he will got to his advance training and then eh should know where he is going

AIT ???

ALL OF 'EM WILL HELP..

DUDE, HE DOESN'T KNOW RIGHT NOW, BEFORE HE HAS EVEN SHIPPED FOR DAMN BCT IF HE'LL BE DEPLOYED. HE'LL FIND OUT IN DUE TIME. ALL YOU CAN DO IS GET THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS THAT YOU ASKED HERE, AND WAIT. IT DEPENDS ON HIS MOS, TIME OF YEAR, WHEN HE ENLISTED, ALL OF THAT WHERE HE'LL BE CONDUCTING TRAINING. ALL 11B GO TO BENNING THOUGH. IF HE'S 31B, HE'LL GO TO FORT LEONARD WOOD, MO FOR ONE STATION UNIT TRAINING, ALSO REFERRED TO AS OSUT. 9 WEEKS OF BCT AND 10 WEEKS OF AIT. SO 19 WEEKS TOTAL. THERE IS NO NEED FOR YOU TO FREAK OUT RIGHT NOW, ABOUT DEPLOYMENT. ALL FAMILIES GO THROUGH THIS, BUT, I THINK IT'S A LITTLE EARLY FOR YOU TO WORRY LIKE THIS.

HOOAH

after basic training he will go to AIT, if he is a combat soldier then they are usually just merged together into one.

After hes done with both usually what happens is he will be allowed 14 days of Leave that he can spend at home or wherever else he wants.
If his recruiter put him in for hometown recruiting, then he will stay home for an extra 14 days for a total of 28 days. The 14 days of hometown recruiting dont count as leave days.

after that he will have to go to his Unit. If you want to know whether or not he is deploying right away you'll have to wait until the end of his basic training when the drill sergeants hand out their orders. On the orders it will tell you the duty station he must report to. You could either wait until he gets to his unit and he can ask his leaders about deployment, or you can research the duty station and the units on google and find out info somewhere on what they are currently doing.

Armytimes is a good source of where all the units are stationed at.

after basic training he will go to AIT (advanced individual training). you will be able to visit him there, but won't be able to live together. AIT usually lasts about 2 months. Mine lasted 9 weeks. After AIT he will go to his first duty station where his unit will start his BAH (basic allowance for housing), BAH will only start when u two get married though. So when he gets his leave after AIT which is usually for 2 weeks you two can get married, then when he gets back they will give him BAH and you two can move into a house on post, or off post. If you live on post they will take your bah and give you a house paid for and utilities paid for. I would highly advise that you two find a small cheap house off post, because whatever money that you don't use out of your BAH you get to keep for youself. So if your BAH was 1200 and your house only costs 800 per month and utilities and water were 200 you'd be able to keep the additional 200 for yourselves for whatever. Also you will have to furnish the house so i'd start checkin on getting some stuff now. couches washer and dryer, dishes, beds...try not to get anything new see if ppl want to give it away friends or family that you know. You never know if he will be sent to afghanistan. It really depends on his MOS (job). like my MOS i won't ever see afghanistan. I'm in Kuwait right now and making some really good money. Also try not to get into debt right away. If you get a credit card make sure you pay it off every month. Don't go out to eat every night, perferrably never. It costs to much money. Grill out, cook for youselves. you can get credit through a credit card, but you've got to pay it off every month, every single month or you will be filing bankruptcy before you know it. Somones got to take care of the fincances (money) in your house. You can also get a small loan for 1000 dollars and keep that thousand in a savings account to pay off the loan, there will be a little interest that you will have to pay, but pay the loan off with the loan money they give you, don't spend the money,,, over the span of a year and that will up your credit too.
