Your recruiter will give you a list. It's been 3 and a half years since I went through but here are some tips:

Your only allowed "normal" white undies. Unless you want the waist high ones you can buy there go and invest in some white bikinis or boyshorts (only styles authorized and must be WHITE).

Bring 1 good bra to wear under your Class A's (dress uniform) at graduation. Must be a neutral color. Other than that you'll be in sports bras you can buy there or at home (there is better- less to carry). You might also want to bring ONE thong to wear under your A's- those pants are tight on the booty. They'll have you lock it up in a bag with your other civilian stuff when you get there.

Hair length isn't that important but i'd recommend just long enough to put in a bun. If its short it'll be a disaster because no blow dryers or flat irons and very little time to spend on that stuff (i mean literally 5 minutes to pee brush your teeth and everything at some points- it "builds discipline") Some spiking hair gel might be good to bring to give you a total helmet head. Unless its changed in 3 years at the end of basic you spend a week in the field without showering.

If you are 5'7" and 140 they'll probably make you loose weight in basic. You're within regs- but on the heavier end. I'm 5'7 and our max weight is 155ish. I went in at 130 and dropped to 115 in basic- don't worry it'll come back. Some girls did put on weight but those were the ones that went in stick thin.

Just work on your push ups- on your toes - no "girl" push ups. Also sit ups. The Army Physical Training test is 2 minutes of push ups, 2 of sit ups and a 2 mile run and that is really what you should focus on. Depending on your age you'll only need about 17 push ups to graduate basic- but they have to be perfect- back straight- chest almost to the ground... etc.

good luck!

response to jman- the Army does NOT cut females hair when you get there.
