Hi, I was curious if anyone knows how it is to be military married to military. My husband just left for naval OCS, and I am applying for a commission to the army. I've heard the military will try to place us together- does anyone know the real odds? My recruiter makes things sound sunny and nice- I don't really believe him. I think we should plan on a rough ride. We both know this is going to difficult, but we are accepting the challenge and will do our best.

Prepare for a rough ride. Both branches will do their best to place you both close, but there are no guarantees. Both commands must have open billets to fill, in order for you to have a chance to be placed there.

My wife and I were both Marines and spent the final two years of our enlistment married. Fortunately for us we were both stationed on Camp Lejeune the whole time. We were told, however, that were we to remain in we could request the same duty station and recieve preference. Perhaps the biggest challenge is that often you may be stationed on the same base but still go on 12+ month deployments. There is really no avoiding this especially in a time of war. Best of luck to the two of you and thank you for your service! Feel free to ask more questions
