If my doctor prescribed a low dose of Zoloft, will I still be deployable? OR should I discontinue? I've been in the military for 18years, and don't want to risk losing it.
I think that you are still deployable. If you are not on medical hold or something else like that then there shouldn't be any reason not to deploy.
I was a Navy Corpsman (I know it is a different branch) but there were several members of my last ship taking similar drugs. Mostly they used Paxil which is almost the same thing.
That was what was on the ships pharmacy. You will need to know if the medication will be available to you when you deploy or if they write an amount enough to take with you like a six month supply or something. Zoloft is a commonly used medicne and it should be availible to you.
As a former military medical person I am telling you that there are a lot of people taking simular medicine. You are not alone.
Talk with your doctor about your diagnosis and if he (she) put something in your record that stops you from being deployed.
