I was originally enlisted as an SMP (simultaneous membership program) cadet with the army. Meaning, I was both enlisted, and in ROTC at the same time. The thing is, I wasn't yet contracted with ROTC before I left for basic training. I've come to certain conclusions that I'd rather just do OCS after I graduate from college, but now I've fallen into a crack...where my contract didn't state any obligations. My question is...has anyone else fallen into this crack before? I've finished BCT, now I'd like to register for AIT, but I have no MOS (it was originally 09R but now it's nothing). I could just back off, and then re-enlist, but I really don't wanna have to do basic training again.
Does anyone know if I'd be able to contract to go to AIT and still receive some sort of bonus incentive? Or would I have to do the "quick ship" option in order to get that 20k bonus and return to basic again?
Knowledgeable responses only please.
Harley: I know that I don't have to repeat BCT in order to continue over to AIT with a specific MOS...but my question is, would I be able to contract with any sort of bonus incentive? For instance, would a bonus be attached to attending a certain AIT for a certain MOS, or is that 20K bonus just for BCT, and have I already missed that 'boat'?
