Isn't 'God' everything according to religious people?

so when they say 'God' is number 1 and family is second, isn't that in essenece putting your own need for a fluffy friend that exists within your head in front of 'God' (which is family and this planet)


can someone clarify, is 'God' everything or is 'God' some words within your head?
