are you more likely to be involved in an accident on a bicycle if you are wearing

headphones? i want to know if there has been any research in to this question, as i see lots of people riding whilst answering phones or listening to music. is this a distraction?
 
I don't know about any research done into it but I'd say it was pretty obvious that it will make you more likely to be involved in an accident as your concentration is compromised. I commute by bike through London and would never wear headphones.
 
Wearing headphones, on a bicycle, train, plane, etc... you are always at risk of an accident. I even know someone that killed himself by slipping out of his bed!
