Are you meant to feel sick *while* you're drinking alcohol?

First time drinker, so I don't know.
I started to feel a little bit sick while I was still drinking alcohol, not after. Is that meant to happen?

yeah it happens when your young but then you get old and your taste buds change..just dont drink too much thats when you get sick.. i have been a full blown alcoholic for 12 years.
