If GM is not a viable business the taxpayers should not keep shelling out money to keep it afloat.
The wages and benefits paid to GM emloyees must be lowered from $73 an hour to $48 an hour, which is what autoworkers who work for Japanese car manufacturers earn. If UAW members are not willing to make these wage and benefit concessions the government must stop loaning money to GM.
It's not the end of the world if GM goes under. Life goes on.
