Are you having a plated dinner or a buffet?

What is your menu like and how many people are you expecting?
I didnt mean the whole menu, what I meant was like do they have more then 1 option to choose from regarding meat choices?

I am having a buffet-style reception, because it is not only much more cost-effective, but also because it gives the guests an opportunity to have as much or as little as they want, and to try both entrees rather than just picking one. We are doing it at my favorite Mexican restaurant, so our two entree choices are steak fajitas or chicken enchiladas. For any guests who don't eat meat, we have a lot of meatless sides: rice and beans, guacamole and chips, salad, fruit plate, etc. I know some people like plated dinners for receptions better than buffets, but to me I feel like my guests will be able to have a lot more variety and choice this way. We are expecting 90-120 guests, depending on how the RSVPs go.

We're doing a plated dinner for approximately 150 people. I'm not going to type out the whole menu.

I am still undecided like you. I much prefer plated, it is absolutely much classier and a fabulous way to pamper the guests. BUT- tis pricey, and we are on a shoe string. = )

I do know that I want to a variety of h'orderves that are gourmet, contemporary in style and different as well as a personalized cocktail and locally brewed beer for our cocktail hour. It will add a modern, and hip feel to the event.

We are having 50-80 people (undecided a bit on that still)

Have fun in your planning, and congratulations!

We had a noon wedding with just over 100 guests. It was a buffet. We had sandwiches and chicken fingers, fruit, veggies and cheese trays from Publix. It was comfortable and laid back. Everyone ate so much and had a great time.

I think I'll do buffet because it's less expensive. My brother and his wife did that and it was nicely done. Great food, plenty of it, and choices! Definitely give them at least 2 choices.

We had a buffet dinner for 200 guests - much preferred to have buffet for guests' choices, and it's more flexible as well.
We had three meats - Baron of beef, turkey, and baked ham; baby roasted potatoes, hot mixed veggies; at least half a dozen salads; veggie and fruit trays; cheeses, pickles, buns; variety of dainties.

Buffet. We are expecting around 160 guests.
we will get to choose 3 entrees and are currently leaning towards prime rib, stuffed chicken & crab cakes. We also get 3 side dishes, salad, and dinner rolls.

I opted for a buffet because - for the same price - I was able to offer 3 entrees, guests do not have to choose in advance what they want to eat (as is the case with the plated dinner), and guests who dislike an option don't have to take it while those who like them all can have some of everything - - which for me helps avoid wasted food.
