Im fuming about it, how stupid. i thought this was a free country, if i want to use 100 watt bulbs i should be allowed to.
Whatever happened to the choices we're always told we have.
These things dont kill us, why dont they stop fags being made instead, they DO kill us, but they make loads of taxes from fags and not from light-bulbs.
Sorry for the ranting, but im bl...y annoyed

I know! I bought some today but even now they are "softer". My outdoor light is now rubbish!

Ryness are still doing them for the foreseeable future http://www.ryness.co.uk/

not bothered i always use energy saving bulbs and yes they are killing us... they are part of the ozone problem...

yup, I'm with you 100% on this. How dare some mealy-mouthed good for nothing idiots in Westminster tell me 'now child, you've been naughty and not cared about the environment enough, so we're going to punish you and do it for you'. It's along the same lines as you can't now buy mercury thermometers, because nanny decided mercury was dangerous and we weren't to be trusted with it.

Stockpile them. Damn nannying micro-managing good for nothing government.

Look what you've started me off on now!

When i found out you wouldn't be able to buy incandescent bulbs soon...i went out a bought loads.
I probably have enough to last years and years.

I do use low energy bulbs too,but prefer using ordinary ones for some things.

Did you know that low energy bulbs are more harmful for the enviroment because they need mercury vapour in the tubes to work?

"Mercury is an element. It is not destroyed by incineration and is made more dangerous if distributed in smoke as it can then be inhaled. It is a cumulative poison in the body. Note that if you break a hot CFL you will have vaporised mercury in the air. My advice is to ventilate the room and to get out fast! Or get out fast first."

A used CFL really needs to be sent for specialist treatment to separate the mercury. Alternatively you can try taking it back to your supplier and asking them to do it for you. I would be interested to hear what happens! From 1st July 2007 they should have had to because full compliance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive came into force.

I haven't bought a 100watt bulb in years so im not fussed if they do. We use halogens and energy saving bulbs.

Have you tried those compact style? They are awsome. I think the 30 watt is like equivilant to 100 watt.
